Senior Engineer – Research & Development

Business Need / Purpose of Role:
From within the Group Technical Engineering Team, but working closely with Group Product Engineering, lead and carry out nominated R&D projects and functions from initial planning through to delivery of the project outcome.
This will include identification of resource and equipment, as well as having control of commissioning and running of R&D plant as well as outsourcing services as required.
Objectives:
- Managing and prioritising department tasks and functions.
- Working with Group Engineering, Product and Applications to deliver designated development projects.
- Project manage type testing approvals.
- Project manage Research & Development Tasks.
- Assist Technical support engineers when required with RCA.
- Ensures engineering compliance is implemented and maintained.
- Provide technical support to the engineering lead, product, and applications teams
- Innovate & develop new solutions to problems
- Design & build custom test setups
- Perform various types of testing e.g., pressure testing, temperature testing & cycle testing
- Generate test reports & provide analytical data based on testing carried out.
- Where required, take ownership of R&D projects.
- Ensure that excellent customer delivery is met, for both clients and colleagues alike.
- Looking at ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Making suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them.
- Provide internal technical support on valve operation, specification, and engineering issues.
- Ad-hoc design activities where necessary.
- To show a responsibility and compliance to the Business Management System, including all relevant procedures and work instructions
- Ensure product output delays are minimised, through effective engineering support to production operations
- Ensure the Severn Glocon Group ethos of ‘Repair Intelligence’ is adopted through culture and systems, and that any lessons learnt are reported to Group Applications Engineering.

Education and/or Experience:
- Higher National Certificates/Diplomas or equivalent from college; with a minimum of 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of pressure equipment & standards
- Proven problem-solving skills
Proven background in mechanical engineering
