Senior QHSE Engineer

Business Need / Purpose of Role:
The purpose of the role is to support the QHSE Lead in making sure the product meets the customers’ expectations and the product is manufactured in a safe and controlled manner.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management / activities of the company’s QHSE & compliance requirements.
Objectives:
- Provide leadership to the QHSE Team within the business.
- Ensure that each member of the QHSE Team has clarity of role and function and is carrying out those roles correctly in support of the business.
- Leadership of the provision of Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental culture, best practice.
- Proactively manage quality to reduce the cost impact of poor quality.
- Drive corrective, root cause and preventive actions to ensure close out of Non-conformances in a timely manner and drive right first time.
- Enforce QHSE policy and procedures.
- Work closely with external stakeholders to ensure their Quality performance is assessed and continually improving.
- Manage calibration of measuring and monitoring equipment.
- Participate in developing and implementing safety programs.
- Conduct lessons learnt with relevant parties.
- Provide status updates, trends if / when required efficiently, effectively and in a timely manner.
- Conduct internal audits / workplace inspections to identify conformity and non-conformance.
- Host external audits with interested parties where necessary.
- Raise Non-Conforming records (NCR) where necessary.
- Conduct Accident / Investigations, reporting inc. root cause analysis and make recommendations to peers / line manager.
- Investigate Near Miss, Unsafe Act, etc. identify trends, recommend & implement improvements.
- Conduct / review / update Risk Assessments with interested parties where required.
- Conduct / review / update COSHH Risk Assessments with interested parties as required.
- Manage “Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007” obligations and submit obligations to compliance scheme.
- Manage PPE competent person checks and maintain records.
- Management of Contractors on site inc. Permit to work (PTW) / Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) including relevant documentation (high risk activities) and maintain records.
- Management of Contractors on site inc. Dynamic Risk Assessment (low risk activities) and maintain records.
- Provide toolbox talks where required.
- Use relevant QHSE tools inc. Plan Do Check Act, 6S, Root Cause Analysis etc. to drive improvements.
- Assist with defining HSE arrangements / procedures in conjunction with operating staff / line managers where necessary.
- Working with peer groups in Brighouse facility to ensure best practice across all business unit.
- Co-ordinate with facilities management to ensure facility and records are maintained.
Education and/or Experience:
- Higher National Certificates/Diplomas or equivalent from college; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ONC / HNC / HND in Business, Quality Management, engineering or Manufacturing disciplines.
- NEBOSH National General Certification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Quality Management Diploma.
- In depth knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety management systems.
- In depth knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- In depth knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Understanding / Experience of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Proficient / trained in Accident / Incident Investigation.
- Proficient / trained in root cause analysis.
- 6S qualified (not essential).
